GREETINGS

Hi there!

My name is Kurina and I am offering fun cooking sessions taught in English.   I am a native Japanese who spent over 20 years living in Singapore and came back to Japan in 2005.     I have loved cooking since I was young; I enjoy cooking various kinds of food including French, Italian, Thai, Indonesian, and of course, Singaporean and Japanese.

While I was in Singapore, I taught Japanese language at National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University of Singapore for 10 years.  I also taught to junior high school students, high school students and working people there.  Meanwhile, my husband was a Japanese chef at a 5 star hotel.  Then in 1996, my husband and I opened our own restaurant there.  We offered the authentic Japanese food using the seasonal ingredients as well as set menus, which were created to be nutritionally well-balanced.
At our restaurant, we also conducted monthly cooking lessons due to popular demand from the customers one session each month for Singaporeans and English speaking people, and one for Japanese people living there.

After coming back to Japan, I took the course to learn Macrbiotics which benefits our helath and life greatly by guiding us to live and eat the way nature intended, and in 2007, I completed the teaching level.

Ifll tell you about my cooking lessons nowcc..

The first 20 minutes is spent on a simple lecture about the food and ingredients that we will use that day and related matters to them.  Then we go to the practical cooking session. I demonstrate some parts, but you also get hands-on experience in my cooking lessons.   After that we have lunch together, enjoying the food we have prepared together.  During the cooking and dining sessions, I introduce the names of ingredients both in Japanese and English, and also the table setting and eating manner of Japanese food.
As I believe in the quality of ingredients for our health and well being, the ones I use in my lessons are
of those qualities which are as free as possible from pesticides and chemicals.
The lessons are conducted at my home in a friendly atmosphere with maximum of 5 people only.
This small, casual setting is perfect for making new friends and learning a lot!

I am very excited to share basic Macrobiotic Japanese cooking skills, which improves your quality of life greatly, and leads for a sustainable brigh future.  I just know wefll have so much fun learning and sharing together.
